The whole country is currently adjusting to life in lockdown and for those of us who are able to work from home, are also acclimatising to a different way of working.
For those who are not used to working from home, it’s a tough adjustment. Staying in a routine, organising your day and staying in touch with your colleagues are all essential to being proactive and productive and ensuring you don’t spiral into a sofa induced Netflix hole!
Over the past couple of weeks, Neon have been using the below Apps to keep our team organised, proactive and connected throughout this tough time.
Trello is an excellent, free App that helps you to organise, prioritise and designate your workload collaboratively.
It’s essentially a digital corkboard that allows you to add different boards, tasks, deadlines and lists. You can share the boards amongst multiple people in your team and comment on each task with updates, so you can all stay up to date with where you are up to on each job.
Trello is a great App to help you set your to do list for the coming days, weeks and months and will also help your teams stay up to date on each task whilst they’re working remotely.
At a time like this, communication is key to the productivity of your team (see our last post on the importance of communication here).
It is important that your employees feel in the loop, supported and looked after and in return they are likely to be loyal, dynamic and productive. A great way to implement this is via Apps such as, Houseparty, Zoom or Skype where you can set up weekly chats to update one another on what you’re working on as well as, how you’re all coping and feeling during this time.
Houseparty also has fun quizzes and games if you want to make the chat a bit more interactive and fun! Some ideas we have integrated into our updates are weekly quizzes, ‘pimp’ my workspace (video sharing of workspace ‘MTV style’) and for Easter we are having an egg decorating competition – decorate your egg like a member of your team!
In unsettled times like we’re currently experiencing; wellness and routine are integral to an individual's mindset and productivity. Apps such as, The Fabulous, are brilliant at helping you set a routine, reset habits and stay healthy.
The App monitors your mindset, goals and patterns and integrates things like exercise, mindfulness and water consumption to help you keep your wellness in check.
Whilst you’re working from the comfort of your own home, it’s easy to find yourself constantly scrolling through your phone. This may lead you to being engrossed by (mostly) negative news and social media feeds and as a result, you’re likely to be less focused and productive than if you were in the office.
Using an App such as, Freedom allows you to block particularly distracting Apps on your phone, so you can put that time and attention into your work rather than watching hilarious Tik Tok videos.

Following on from the PM's announcement this week, we've been discussing how company's can boost morale as staff continue to work from home.
As many businesses start to reopen their doors, it's important to start thinking about re-evaluating business goals and objectives.
